Choose MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG or AIFF audio, or MP4, MOV, WebM, M4V, AVI, WMV, MKV or FLV video. This local page accepts files up to 100 MB and 120 seconds. The browser must support the codec inside the file; video audio is captured as it plays, in real time.
02 / METHOD
Follow one clear line
AudioNote MIDI decodes audio on your device, then tracks fundamentals from roughly 65–1,000 Hz (C2–B5) with a lightweight autocorrelation method. It writes a standard MIDI file with note names and timing. No media is sent to a server.
03 / EXPECTATIONS
A useful first draft
Results are strongest for a clean, single-note melody. Chords, drums, overlapping instruments, heavy effects and noisy recordings can confuse pitch tracking. This is a monophonic transcription sketch, not a studio-grade arrangement.
FAQ / 01
Can I convert MP3 or WAV to MIDI?
Yes. Choose an MP3 or WAV file to create a standard .mid file. M4A, AAC, OGG, AIFF and the listed video formats are also accepted when your browser can decode the file's codec.
FAQ / 02
Can I convert MP4 or video to MIDI?
Yes. Choose an MP4, MOV, WebM, M4V, AVI, WMV, MKV or FLV file with an audio track. The video is played locally so its audio can be analyzed; processing takes at least as long as the video playback.
FAQ / 03
Does my audio get uploaded?
No. Audio decoding and note tracking run in this browser tab. The page does not send your recording to a conversion server or store it in a cloud account.
FAQ / 04
Can it transcribe chords or separate a full song?
This tool outputs one melody line at a time. Chords, drums and overlapping instruments are not separated into tracks, so a clean solo recording is the best input for a useful first draft.
FAQ / 05
What affects the MIDI result?
Clear pitch, steady notes and low background noise help. Heavy effects, dense mixes and instruments playing at the same time can cause missed or extra notes. Review the MIDI in your music software before using it in a finished arrangement.
FAQ / 06
What are the file limits?
Files can be up to 100 MB and 120 seconds. Supported formats are listed above; the browser must also support the codec inside the selected file.
FAQ / 07
Can I convert a YouTube link?
This page converts files stored on your device and does not fetch YouTube links. If you have permission to use a recording, select its audio or video file here.
AFTER THE DOWNLOAD
Take the sketch into your music
01 / IMPORT
Open the .mid in your DAW
Import or drag the downloaded file onto a MIDI or instrument track. Assign a virtual instrument if the track is silent. MIDI contains note instructions, not a recording.
02 / CHECK
Compare in the piano roll
Play the source and the sketch separately. Check note order, starts and lengths. Correct missed or extra notes before adjusting the instrument sound.
03 / MAKE IT YOURS
Edit, arrange, then export audio
Change the instrument, transpose notes, or adjust timing in your DAW. Render an audio file there when you need a recording to share.
